What to Pack
When going on a Safari it is recommended that you wear casual, comfortable clothing. Most practical are, green or brown colored clothing during the day. It is nice to have some colorful clothing to wear at lodges or camps in the evening, or when visiting metropolitan areas. Long sleeved blouses/shirts will protect you from the sun and from mosquitoes.
Avoid nylon and other synthetics, which can be uncomfortable in the hot weather. Breathable clothes that can shield the skin from the strong sun are recommended as are clothing that permit movement.
Africa can become much colder than you may think, especially at night. Bring some warm clothes and a jacket. Morning game drives in open vehicles can be pretty chilly until the sun rises. This applies particularly if traveling in southern Africa in the southern winter months (Jun - Aug).
Do pack your swimwear. Most safari lodges, hotels, resorts, campsites, etc. have pools. When going to a beach resorts, try to respect the more conservative traditions, …cover up a bit.
Don't forget a hat, sunglasses and comfortable walking shoes.
